The Pistol Instructor Course is an intensive 40-hour program consisting of 90% range application and 10% classroom instruction. It is designed to develop capable, confident, and effective law enforcement firearms instructors.
Through progressive training, officers develop the Seven Fundamentals of Marksmanship, modern pistol employment principles, and coaching techniques for diagnosing and correcting shooter deficiencies. Training includes Critical Task Evaluations, use of cover, movement off the line of attack, vehicle engagements, advanced weapons handling, positional shooting, defensive tactics integration, and tandem tactics.
