More Than Physical Self-Defense

What Is Equalizer?

The Equalizer Women’s Self-Defense Program is a division of SSGT designed to help women recognize and reduce their risk of violent and property crime, and prepare them to defend against, survive, and escape a physical attack.

The program combines personal safety, residential security, and physical self-defense. Many of its self-defense techniques are derived from SSGT’s Vanguard Program, bringing proven SSGT training principles into a program designed specifically to educate and prepare women.

What Equalizer Instructors Teach

The EWSP Curriculum

Equalizer prepares instructors to deliver a structured program built around three areas of training: personal safety, residential security, and physical self-defense.

01

Personal Safety

Education focused on helping women recognize risk, reduce their likelihood of being victimized, and make informed decisions that support their personal safety.

Chapter One

02

Residential Security

Practical information addressing safety and security in and around the home as part of the program’s broader focus on reducing risk and preparing in advance.

Chapter Two

03

Physical Self-Defense

Practical physical training designed to help women resist, survive, and escape physical attacks. This chapter is divided into four progressive phases.

Four Phases · Four Hours Each

Personal Safety and Residential Security may be covered together in four hours. Participants completing any portion of the program may receive a Certificate of Completion after passing the open-book written exam.
